70 MINUTES FROM PRAGUE | RESIDENTIAL | FULLY EXCLUSIVE
A house that shelters serious work and daydreaming alike: seminars, retreats, festivals, weddings, and the slow evenings in between. Made for the decades ahead.
First a medieval castle, rebuilt as a renaissance château in the 16th century, Hostačov sits in 12 hectares of parkland, forest, and water in the Czech Highlands, about 70 minutes from Prague by train or car. The house sleeps up to 65 guests in 17 spacious en-suite bedrooms, with six meeting and gathering spaces, a professional kitchen, a pool, and grounds that hold outdoor events of up to 250 people in summer. It comes from an era when one house was expected to hold scholarship, craft, celebration and argument under a single roof. We are putting it back to work.
The venue follows a seasonal rhythm. Spring and autumn host residential programmes: research retreats, training courses, and communities that need time and focus. Summer opens the grounds to festivals, conferences, and weddings. Winter is quieter, suited to writing retreats and small groups.
In its first year under new operation, the house has hosted a month-long AI alignment research seminar, a residential spring season of co-living and themed weekends, professional training retreats, and a wedding. Gatherings with a serious purpose do well here. So do good parties.
Hostačov is a business with a purpose beyond itself. Standard rates reflect genuine costs, and commercial bookings make it possible to host research groups and nonprofit programmes at 20 to 50 percent below standard pricing. We are open about this rather than pretending all bookings are the same: if your work is rich in substance and modest in budget, write and say so. And if you are planning a celebration or a company offsite, your booking quietly carries the rest.
Hostačov is run by František Drahota, who has spent the past decade between research and education, East and West, organising events and building networks across Europe and beyond. Operations and kitchen are led by Petr Loukota. The project is backed by a small investor group led by Philip Chen, who also serves as a director.
And a pool, grounds, forest paths
for when you need to walk and think.
Maximum capacity 6O people.
Professional kitchen. Full board.
Absolute freedom for your event.
The space is entirely yours.
From a self-run gathering of twelve to a fully produced festival of 250. Bring your own team, or work with ours: catering, technical setup, programme support, on-site coordination.
The house is at its best with around 45 people staying four days or longer. That is the shape we prioritise in the calendar, and pricing favours it too.
Pricing is based on group size, season, and service level. We host everything from research groups on tight budgets to fully serviced retreats and private celebrations, and we will give you a clear estimate quickly. If you think your work qualifies for mission-aligned pricing, say so in the inquiry; review is fast and the reasoning transparent.
